Although the neighborhood is outside Washington, DC, the local lifestyle of Potomac, Maryland, is relaxed and slow-paced. Residents enjoy the quiet ambiance, with many homes having ample privacy and space. Because of its location, Potomac is home to a variety of government officials, executives, and other professionals.

Potomac has a range of great restaurants, upscale establishments, and locally-owned shops. The wide array of restaurants allows foodies to have fun exploring and expanding their palate. It also makes a great way to explore the city as you hunt down and try different cuisine. 
 
The notable restaurants include King Street Oyster Bar, MoCo’s Founding Farmers, and Old Angler’s Inn. The oysters at King Street Oyster Bar are fresh from the water less than 48 hours ago. They also have the widest variety of oysters available, with at least ten on the menu every day. Founding Farmers are, as the name suggests, farmers. Their market and grocery are stocked with locally sourced fresh produce, meats, and dairy. They also have an excellent selection of prepared foods. Old Angler’s Inn has been a staple in Potomac since 1860, serving steaks, seafood, and pasta that keeps customers coming back for more.
 
Spending time in downtown Potomac is a great way to spend an afternoon exploring the different boutiques, shops, and cafes. Downtown is also the Potomac Village Farmers Market destination, where residents shop for local goods and artisan-made crafts. 
 
For retail therapy, residents head to the nearby Westfield Montgomery Mall. This mall has some of the best commercial retail outlets, including luxury and designer brands.
 

Things to Do

Throughout the year, residents look forward to plenty of activities and events throughout Potomac and the surrounding area. Because of its unique location, residents enjoy the Potomac River in some of the best ways possible. Companies like Potomac Paddlesports provide equipment for residents to enjoy paddleboarding or white-water rafting. It's a great way to indulge in recreational fun while enjoying the scenery.
 
For a laid-back recreational sport, residents go to Falls Road Golf Course. Here, lessons offered by PGA professionals and certified instructors allow you to be the best player you can be. They also have a fantastic clubhouse where you can gather with friends and family. 
 
The proximity to our nation's capital means you can join in on all the festivities in Washington DC. Ringing in the new year on the National Mall, celebrating the Fourth of July, and welcoming the holidays are highly anticipated events residents look forward to each year.
